- Arora Group acquires its first super prime central London development opportunity
- Purchase of a 2.7 acre Freehold Site for an undisclosed sum
- Once in a generation acquisition opportunity
The Arora Group today proudly announces the purchase of the former Heythrop College in Prime Central London. The site covers an area of circa 2.7 acres in the heart of London with a gross development value of over £750 million and substantial development potential. This acquisition demonstrates the Arora Group’s current appetite for growth despite the current head winds in the market.
Sanjay Arora, Chief Operating Officer for the Arora Group commented: “The acquisition of this extremely rare site in Kensington is in line with our ambition to acquire an asset with significant development potential in Prime Central London. We have waited several years for the right opportunity to purchase an asset of this calibre in London, and we are very excited to own such a prestigious building, which can be held for future generations in our family business. The site has the potential for a number of different schemes, and we look forward to working closely with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.”
Today, Arora Group is one of the UK’s largest private owner operator of hotels with over 7,000 hotel bedrooms, including Fairmont Windsor Park, Sofitel London Heathrow, Sofitel London Gatwick (all three under franchise arrangements with Accor), InterContinental London – The O2 and Crowne Plaza/Holiday Inn Express at Heathrow’s Terminal 4 (both under franchise agreements with IHG). The group has assets under management totalling over £2bn.
The group also acquired The Buckinghamshire Golf Club near Denham, Buckinghamshire, which it owns and operates and Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa in over 1100 Acres which was purchased in December 2021. It has recently expanded into the retail sector with the purchase of County Mall in Crawley in August 2022 and Peacocks Centre in Woking in February 2023.
